Drive past The Village at Rancharrah's Kietzke Lane entrance this month and you will notice the sign where Grafted Whiskey & Wine Bar used to hang has been replaced. In its place: Great Gold, a modern Italian restaurant that opened its second location here on August 18, 2026, taking over the exact spot Grafted occupied when the Village first opened its doors in 2021.
That change is part of the Village’s evolving lineup, and it is worth understanding if you already live behind the Rancharrah gates or in the surrounding South Reno neighborhoods that treat the Village as a second front yard.
A New Restaurant Joins the Lineup
When The Village at Rancharrah opened, Grafted Whiskey & Wine Bar was one of the anchor tenants, built around whiskey and wine tastings paired with shareable small plates. Five years later, that concept is gone. Great Gold, a Truckee-born restaurant known for handmade pasta and Neapolitan-style pizza, moved in instead.
This matters because Great Gold did not arrive as an unproven concept. Its original Truckee location has built enough of a following that walk-in tables are rare and reservations typically book out about a week in advance. Great Gold's arrival adds a restaurant with a full menu to the Village.
The Village's Original and Current Lineups
The original announcement for the Village listed a roster that included Grafted Whiskey & Wine Bar, Mari Chuy's Tequileria, Perenn Bakery, Base Camp Pizza Co., Rolled Mountain Creamery, Dorinda's Chocolates, Hinoki Sushi, Trademark Jewelry, Bone-ito, Waste Less Shop, and The Village Well.
Walk the same footprint today and the lineup reads differently. Perenn Bakery, Mari Chuy's, Rolled Mountain Creamery, Trademark Jewelry, Bone-ito, and The Village Well are all still there. Hinoki Sushi is now Hinoki Poke, a fast-casual pivot rather than a full sushi program. Armando & Sons, a butcher shop and burger bar, and Elixir Superfood & Juice, a fast-casual wellness concept serving cold-pressed juices and acai bowls, have joined the mix without appearing in the original 2021 announcement at all.
The lineup has changed since 2021, with several of the original businesses still operating and new businesses joining. The changes reflect how the mix has evolved since the original announcement.
The Public Village and the Private Club Are Not the Same Place
If you are new to the area, it is worth separating two things that share a name and a driveway. The Club at Rancharrah, the members-only social club built on the former estate of casino magnate Bill Harrah, houses Nineteen 57 Restaurant and Bar along with a pool, spa, fitness center, and pickleball and bocce courts, all reserved for Club members and their guests.
The Village at Rancharrah is a different property entirely. It sits just beyond the Club and is open to anyone, member or not. That is where Great Gold, Perenn, Mari Chuy's, and the rest of the storefronts discussed above operate. If you have been holding off on visiting because you assumed a membership was required, that assumption does not apply to the Village side of the property.
The Calendar That Keeps People Coming Back
Restaurants and shops turn over, but the Village's event calendar has been the more consistent draw. A few dates worth putting on the fridge this season:
- Late summer 2026: The Village's Summer Concert Series, presented by Dolan Auto Group, closes out its season with acts including Mighty Mike Schermer, Full Blast, The Copper Children, and Kyle Rea, the traditional send-off before the crowds thin out for fall.
- Saturday, November 21, 2026: The Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off the holiday season, timed for the weekend before Thanksgiving so it does not compete with travel plans.
None of these events depend on any single retailer staying in business. They depend on the Village functioning as a gathering space, which is arguably the more durable asset than any one restaurant's lease.
What This Means If You Live Here
If Grafted was your regular stop, that spot on your rotation is gone, but what replaced it comes with a built-in reputation from Truckee, so plan on booking ahead rather than walking in, especially on weekends. If you have been driving to Midtown or South Meadows for a smoothie or an acai bowl, Elixir Superfood & Juice now puts that a few minutes closer to home. And if you have assumed the Village required a Club membership because of its proximity to Rancharrah's private amenities, that has never been the case. The dining and retail strip has been open to the public since 2021, while the Club's restaurant and amenities are reserved for members and their guests.
The Village's lineup has changed since it opened five years ago, while Perenn, Rolled Mountain Creamery, and The Village Well remain among the businesses listed above.
